What is it?
In short, collections enable clients to make their own groupings of Matter's 700 metrics with bookmarks. These groupings of metrics can saved and shared within your organization for later use.
We think users will find that bookmarking flags and metrics is beneficial, as it allows for the analysis of funds or portfolios focusing on specific segments of sustainability. Previously, users had to clear their bookmarks each time they wished to modify their focus area. The new feature facilitates users to create and store infinite subsets of sustainability metrics, which fit their exact needs.
Use cases
To illustrate the capabilities now in the hands of our clients, here are three uses cases of the collections feature.
- Bookmark and store exclusion screening criteria for various funds or clients
If a user manages multiple funds or clients with distinct exclusion criteria, you can bookmark the necessary metrics for each individual exclusion screening. Users can then label these collections however they need e.g., 'Exclusion Criteria for Fund XYZ', and save them for future reassessment, or fund rebalancing.
- Bookmark and store collections of metrics used for specific periodic reporting
For those who report periodically on the performance of portfolios or funds using specific metrics, such as for board meetings or annual reports, this feature is particularly useful. Bookmark the relevant metrics for these analyses and save them with labels like 'Board Meeting Analysis' or 'Annual Report Analysis'. In addition to preventing users from having to clean up their bookmarked metrics every time they need a new specific subset of metrics, it also prevents them from having to recall and locate the precise metrics previously used.
- Create thematic collections of metrics
If your assessment needs cover a variety of themes, you can now create thematic collections of metrics such as faith-based criteria, supply chain flags, or any other theme you can find interesting to view as a package within the 500+ different sustainability insights on the Matter platform.
How to use it
Alongside the Portfolio hub, you can now find the Collections hub. Here you will find a list of your saved collections of bookmarked metrics, that you can use for analysis on given portfolios. When bookmarking a metric, for instance for screening, you can choose to create a new collection, in which you save the bookmark.
Adding to a collection from Portfolio Analysis
When looking at metrics for a portfolio, each metric can easily be added to a collection directly from this overview. When using the graph view, metrics are added by hovering over the title of the metric and clicking the add to collection button.

When using the table view, metrics are added to a collection by hovering over the metric and clicking the add to collection button at the right side of the table.

Adding to a collection from metric page
When looking at a single metric, the metric can be added to a collection by clicking the Add to collections button next to the metric title at the top of the page.
