At Matter, we diligently store all ISINs that resolve to any existing company, regardless of whether the ISIN asset is actively traded or valid. As long as the company exists for the given day the ISIN is queried, we retain information about the ISINs that were once resolved to it.
If an ISIN cannot be resolved or identified, it means we have never been able to establish a resolution for this particular ISIN with an entity. Alternatively, it could be due to the entity or company that the ISIN originally resolved to be invalidated, often caused by:
- Company merger: A merger of two or more companies into a single entity.
- Company liquidation: The cessation of a company's operation and legal identity.
- Company demerger: the inverse of a merger, where a company separates into distinct entities.
- Company acquisition: whereby a company has sold off its majority stake to a parent yet remains as a distinct entity from its new parent.
- Company spinoff: the inverse of liquidation, whereby a parent company creates a new entity that it usually has a majority stake in.
We are committed to providing accurate and comprehensive data, and our ISIN storage policy ensures that historical information is preserved for your reference and analysis.
