About this framework

Impact metrics give you quantitative and comparable insights into the social and environmental footprint of the issuers in your portfolio - from MWh of renewable energy generated, to tonnes of fossil fuel reserves owned, to the gender ratio of boards and management teams.

Every company has an impact, whether positive or negative. Matter's impact metrics are quantitative measures of the environmental and social footprint of issuers to understand, for example, the cubic meters of water used by the companies in your portfolio, the tonnes of fossil fuels your investments are exposed to, or what the gender ratio of boards and management teams are.

By accessing quantified and comparable impact numbers across your portfolio, you can compare your portfolio to its benchmark or identify companies with the highest positive or negative impact. You can track your portfolio's sustainability goals, optimise for emissions or other environmental criteria, or identify companies for engagement.
